The Ajax range of universal milling machines, like their
predecessors, are ideal for use in any enviroment catering
to both maintenance and production requirements.
The machines are ergonomically designed, combining the latest
design techniques with the highest standard of quality engineering,
reliability in service, accuracy and rigidity of machine.
The entire 'A' range includes infinitely variable speeds enabling
the operator to machine a wider variety of more sophisticated
materials.

Pendant
Control
A pendant control is supplied on all models allowing greater
flexibility of operation to the user. 1A has a 12 speed
gearbox manually selected from the side of the machine. |
Speed
Control
2A-4A models have variable speeds 35-1800rpm which is
actuated by selecting one of the two speed bands and then
utilising the handwheel situated on the main column until
the appropriate speed is selected. The speed will be digitally
indicated on the pendant control panel. |
Backlash
Eliminator
A backlash eliminator is provided on all models to allow
climb milling operations to be performed easily. |
Feed
Control
Model 1A has an 8 speed gearbox, 2A has infinitely variable
feed selection on 0-1200mm/min in the x- and y- axis.
The feed selection is actuated through a rheostat situated
on the pendant control. A digital display will confirm
the feed being operated. |

4A - The feed
selection on this heavier duty machine is undertaken manually
by a rotating dial through a two colour band selector
through the 12 feeds, 20-920mm/min. Rapid traverse override,
2600mm/min is easily obtained by a lever mechanism on
the left hand side of the knee. One shot lubrication to
the ways provided. |
Electrical
Control Panel
The electrical control panel is fitted with a safety isolating
switch which must be I the 'OFF' position before the panel
can be opened. High quality contactors and relays are
used throughout, with replacements readily available worldwide. |
Universal
Heads
To increase the versatility of these rigid machines, two
styles of universal head are available - a standard configuration
with hinged bracket and spindle of size ISO.40, and a
universal head with downfeed incorporating an ISO.40 spindle
having 60mm of hand quill feed. |
